SPAN 303 - Advanced Spanish Grammar
Course Description:
Reviews all phases of communication skills with practice in understanding, speaking, and writing grammatically correct Spanish. Teaches specific components of Spanish grammar: the Spanish verbal system, the subjunctive, ser versus estar, and other problematic aspects of grammar. Taught in Spanish.
Reflective Narrative:
This class, taught by Professor Oliva, was much like many of the Spanish classes I had been taking since 2011, but went into much more detail, and even explained why the grammar rules were as such. We learned the proper times to use Ser and when to use Estar, the pronoun Lo, various connectors for use in our writing, the rules when to use accents on words, and we concreted the use of por and para. Overall, it was a very informative class, and I will use this information when I need to teach these subjects as well, because this class provided the facts in a very straight-forward way that made it clear to me. Here is an example of a typical homework assignment for this class, where we would get the chance to do some writing in Spanish, as well as check our knowledge of the respective subject. This class fulfilled MLO's 1 and 2.
