SPAN 300 - Pre-Capstone for Spanish Majors
Course Description:
Directed toward Spanish majors preparing for their Capstone experience, this course aims to guide the student in the process of completing a capstone proposal and initiating the preliminary steps toward the graduation ePortfolio. The ePortfolio provides evidence that a student is making satisfactory progress toward meeting the Core requirements and Major Learning Outcomes (MLOs) for the Spanish B.A.
Reflective Narrative:
This class is a vital class for any student to take, as it prepares us for our final semesters here in college. This class, taught by Carolyn Gonzalez, helps us learn more about our final semester and our Capstone class, where we submit a research topic and study it extensively. We pick our topic in SPAN 300, and are partnered up with someone with a similar interest. For me, Ivan Rodriguez and I chose to work together on our Capstone, which will look at the linguistic relationship between Arabic and Spanish, and the cultural events and influences that caused this relationship. We also learn in this class how to properly conduct research, find reliable sources, and think analytically about writing a research paper. This class fulfills MLO 6.
